Preventing Eye Strain.....


Most of us nowadays work for long hours in front of the computer screen. Such acts might cause some discomfort to the eyes which is an important part of our organ. So in order to prevent furthur damage and keep our eyes as fit as possible here are some tips on how to prevent eye strain especially for bloggers like you and me who need to sit in front of the computer screen .......



Preventing Eye Strain

Eye fatigue, neck pain and headaches can all stem from not giving your eyes the rest they need to function properly.

Our eyes are naturally designed to focus at long distances and when we focus up close - like on our monitor screen - the small muscles in the eyes must work very hard to allow you to see clearly. When they become fatigued, you begin to squint to try and help your eyes focus.
You can help reduce eye fatigue by:

1. Have your eyes examined

Having a eye examination at least every 2 years. If you wear glasses and experience eyestrain, you may need a new prescription. You can easily overwork your eye muscles if your eyes need correction and don't get it.

2. Use good lighting

Adequate lighting is important to prevent eyestrain. Avoid working in rooms that are dark or too dim. If you're staring at a TV or monitor, make sure the light in the room is about equal to the brightness of the display.

Movie theaters make up for this by having such a huge screen that their own light fills up the room.

3. Take a break

Try to spend no more than one hour without taking a break. Computer use results in a decrease of blinking to almost one third of normal, putting even more strain than usual on your eyes.

You should practice the 20/20/20 rule - every 20 minutes, look away from your monitor for 20 seconds, and focus on an object that is at least 20 feet away.

4. Exercise your eyes

To prevent eyestrain, it is recommended to do eye yoga. Move your eyes slowly and smoothly as far to the left as you can, then as far to the right as you can. Continue by looking up, then down, then at all four diagonals.
Repeat the entire sequence three to five times, once or twice a day.

5. Make some heat

A technique called cupping can ease eyestrain. First, rub your hands together to make them warm. Then gently press your palms against your closed eyes and hold them there for a while. You will find it soothing.

6. Eat carrots

If you eat carrots, it'll increase your eyesight. This is absolutely true, but it isn't just carrots you can eat, it's anything with Vitamin A. Vitamin A helps to safeguard against cataracts and macular degeneration. It also helps you to see better at night.

My Kitchen Layout....



Planning a kitchen is both exciting and stressful as this is the place where I would call the heart of my home. As I would be spending most of my time here when I do my daily meals. For someone who loves to cook, a practical kitchen is of upmost importance. So a friend of mine who owns Apple Interior Design helps me come up with this simple and lovely layout recently. The build up cabinets from floor to ceiling makes up for more storage space for my small space. There will be special pull out basket storage in the cabinets for my pots and pans.
I have yet to choose the colours for my cabinets. I intend to have a marble or granite table top for easy cleaning. Still having mix feelings of what fridge to buy...a side by side one or just the normal split fridge. I will be fixing an induction cooker top instead of the gas cooker for the reasons that it is easy to clean and gives me more storage space with the absence of the gas tank. I have another halogen cooker which I am now using which is so practical and cost savings too. So I just can place it on top of the ceramic top when I need to use other utensils like Corning ware as induction cooking uses only specially made iron cast and compatible 18/10 stainless steel wares.
Hope my dream kitchen will be realise sooonnnnn.......!

New Condo Makeover Is So Mind Boggling....


These few days times flies like a flicker of an eye. Wish there is more than 24 hours in a day. I have a lot of things on my mind right now as recently I was shown the layout plans for my new condominium by my interior designer. There are so many things to be done even for a small condo. I have to see what are the things I needed in every room especially the kitchen. I have yet to find the right colour for my kitchen cabinets, the right sink , the right oven , hood, fridge, stove and so on....not to mention the paintings and looking for the right colour for all the other rooms, the designs for my wardrobe and etc..etc..etc...

So today, I bought myself a book called " key to your home " from Borders to check out for new ideas to this mind boggling task.......

Have yet to read through all these and hope to get some ideas in the next 2 weeks.....

Hurray..! I Finally Made It..........

Yes.....I have finally upload my bloggerhead image replacing the cute puppy....after nearly many many hours of blurry eyes and mind fiddling with the so call html editing. I have found the problem to my failure in uploading the pics and the problem is solved all by myself. Now at nearly 1.30 am here I can really go to bed smiling at myself for learning something new again today. Tomorrow will be another day for me to edit some other parts of this wonderful template and with more exploration to be done.

I am Still Struggling with This Template......

Since yesterday, I have yet to find the correct way to put up my profile image in place of the puppy in the header. Hope somebody will help me out or else......???? Will I have to leave it blank like that for as long as til I get help ? So long for lifelong learning. Hope my patience can last as long as I could hold on to. I will give it a try again and again............

I Am Sick

I have fever since yesterday evening. My body was aching all over. Took some painkillers to relieve it. So there is nothing I could do much but get some rest. Hope to be here again when I am well to do more exploration.

Life Long Learning......

I have been sitting down in front of my laptop today doing what most people my age would not dare to attempt or even had the patience or time to be learning something new and that is.....putting up a new template up on my new blog. While blog hopping around I saw this quite interesting template in http://www.eblogtemplates. So I jump into the bandwagon of most high tech young bloggers to put up this template. Have been learning how to download them and upload it to replace my former bloggers template. I see that I can do a lot of things like editing it to suits my style in this template. This is only the few things I have learned or actually explored,through trials and errors and observation of other blog s and the answers to the problems faced by most bloggers in the comments box. Looking forward to learn more and please hang on here with me.....

A Swollen Right Knee........

Since 3 days ago my arthritis seems to appear its ugly head again, giving me a swollen knee. It looks like I have to walk like I have an elephant right leg for a few more days. Damn...it. Just do not have the time to rub or massage it sitting in front of my lappy. Waiting for maid to finish her work..(she seems to have an unending task at housework due to her tortoise stlye ) so by the time I wanted her to rub in some massage oil it is pass midnight already. Damn it !!!again.

Bloggerbin Is Born Today....

This is my first post on my new baby. Hope I can start blogging about everything here. I can chat, make friends, shout out my thoughts my happiness, my disappointment, my guilt, and many many other things. Guess i had a bin here to keep my stories with the good and the bad , the happy and the sad, the ugly and the beautiful, etc..etc...inside. Freedom of speech is what i want with no restriction whatsoever to my sometimes bored and simple life..............
